More information has come out about Alevo's plans ahead of an Oct. 28 announcement. The company has created a patented battery technology that can capture unused electricity as it travels from Point A to Point B and store it to reduce waste, Walker Marketing representative Meredith Holt confirmed Friday. Those products will be combined with smart-grid applications and company services to create "huge" benefits for industry, consumers and the region.

The technology has the potential to solve a worldwide need to "effectively, efficiently and safely" capture and store energy on a mass scale, she said. "The implications Alevo products and services will have for utility companies are unbelievable, especially in terms of the potential to produce renewable energy like wind and solar cost-effectively on a global scale."
