Apple Aiming To Unveil Its First Electric Car In 2019

• Forbes

Citing sources close to the matter, The Wall Street Journal reported that the Cupertino-based tech giant has set an aggressive timeline for its foray into the electric car market with an intended 2019 ship date for its first model. According to the outlet, Apple's electric car project—code named "Titan "—is backed by an impressive team of Apple employees, many of whom have been pulled from other tasks to focus on the tech giant's imminent entry into the automotive industry. Titan's leaders have reportedly been given that go-ahead to triple the original 600-person team.

The Journal article comes on the heels of a Guardian report that Apple executives met with officials from California's Department of Motor Vehicles last month to "review [the] DMV's autonomous vehicle regulations," according to a statement the Guardian recieved from the DMV. Despite this and the fact that Apple has hired a handful of experts on driver-less cars and poached a couple high profile Tesla engineers, however, The Journal reported that the first model set to ship in four years won't be fully autonomous.
