Winter Storm Benji Bringing the Northeast Seaboard's First Snow of the Season -

• wunderground.com by Jonathan Belles

Winter Storm Benji is now spreading snow to much of the Northeast Seaboard, after blanketing a swath of the South with record-setting snowfall.

By the time Benji departs the Northeast, it will have laid down a blanket of snow 2,000 miles long from Texas to New England. Up to 18 inches of snow has fallen in the Appalachians alredy.

Already over 400,000 customers have lost power in the storm and roads remain treacherous in parts of the South. At least three people have been killed by Benji's trek across the South and mid-Atlantic.

Happening Now

An expansive area of snow is now spreading into the Northeast and finally leaving the snow-weary Southeast.

Snow is now falling throughout the Washington D.C., Baltimore, Philadelphia and Boston metro areas, and will continue to spread north and gain intensity through the day. Through early Saturday afternoon, 1-4 inches of snow has been reported in southern New England and on Long Island, including 3.1 inches in North Haven, Connecticut.
