Rutherford County Juvenile Court Judge Donna Scott Davenport has announced her retirement just one day after she was voted to be removed by legislators

Davenport is ending her 22-year career on the bench since starting in 2000 and will officially finish her term in September with no plans to run for re-election

She previously faced controversy in October after an investigative report written by WPLN and ProPublica detailed a juvenile detention system she created 

She had established a filter system in 2003 to lock up juveniles at will in which she falsely arrested and imprisoned thousands of children over the years

A 2017 lawsuit was filed but was settled by Rutherford County for $11 million
