The vast majority of preppers and patriots generally plan to survive a national disaster using the "bugging in" method – Meaning, their strategy is to keep the majority of their preps at home and secure their property themselves.  As I've noted many times in the past, if there is a civil breakdown on a large scale then this idea will fail for most people.  Without neighborhood or community defense there is no way to maintain safety.  That said, there are some scenarios where even town sized organization might not help you.

There are natural disasters as well as man-made disasters that could easily drive you from your homestead, forcing you to "bug out".  There are ways to plan for such outcomes (preventing them would be very difficult or impossible), and in the next issue of the Wild Bunch we'll discuss the steps you and your family can take to adapt to the absolute worst case bug-in scenarios.
