Today's drone strikes inside Russia will definitely go down in the history books. The Ukrainians seem to have consulted with some Mexican cartel smugglers on how to get offensive short range drones past security and border personnel to attack multi-million dollar strategic bomber fleets.

Ukraine struck four Russian strategic bomber airbases all across the nation in a coordinated drone attack, destroying over 40 aircraft, including Tu-95 and Tu-22M3 bombers, as well as an A-50 surveillance radar jet.

The drones were smuggled deep into Russia, hidden inside wooden sheds mounted on trucks. Once in position, the roof panels opened remotely, launching the drones from within Russian territory.

This helps Ukraine, of course, but seems also calculated to be a gift to the U.S. as well, by degrading Russian nuclear delivery capacity, specifically in the aftermath of the data dump exposure of Russia's nuclear weapon facilities by Der Spiegel 2 weeks ago.

But of course, while it is a gift for the Pentagon,...it is also a nightmare to make U.S. base commanders bolt upright in bed screaming in a cold sweat. Something exactly like this could also easily be inflicted upon us here and abroad, approximating a modern day Pearl Harbor.

In fact, the Russian propaganda machine immediately dubbed today's attack on the strategic bomber fleet a Russian Pearl Harbor. This is a misnomer, of course, as the Japan attack on Pearl Harbor was a surprise attack without a declaration of war. The result of the strike was that the US entered WWII.  The Russia-Ukraine war started by Putin is in its 4th year. The strategic bombers destroyed today have been bombing Ukrainian cities for three years. Better to call it a Tsushima - for the Battle of Tsushima of May 27, 1904, when two Russian fleets were destroyed and the Russia-Japan came closer to the end.

According to numerous open source intel gatherers who's hobby is keeping tabs on war equipment and the resulting losses by both sides during the war thus far,...30% or more of the Russian Air Force's fleet of long-range nuclear-capable strategic bombers were reportedly damaged and/or destroyed today.
