Daniel Ellsberg, the man responsible for leaking the Pentagon Papers that helped stop the Vietnam War, was arrested twice over the weekend: on Saturday at the White House, and again on Sunday outside the Quantico military brig where accused WikiLeaks suspect Bradley Manning is imprisoned.
Ellsberg was just one of about 30 people who were arrested Sunday. That list also included Army Col. Ann Wright, Ret., a former State Dept. diplomat. Speaking to The Washington Post, Ellsberg reportedly said that he identifies with Manning “more than anyone else I’ve seen in the last 40 years.”
Manning is accused of “aiding the enemy” for allegedly leaking volumes of secret data to WikiLeaks. The government has not said what “enemy” in particular Manning supposedly helped.
