States Pass Budget Pain to Cities

• NY Times
The state budget squeeze is fast becoming a city budget squeeze, as struggling states around the nation plan deep cuts in aid to cities and local governments that will almost certainly result in more service cuts, layoffs and local tax increases.

When is someone going to suggest an end to city services? No tax increases are needed if government is fired. Private services if regulated by customers and not government would do the job which government has NEVER done as cheaply or well. Still need revenue? Gov can sell it's assets. They won't need much when no police, fire, or sanitation dept. is left. Next the utilities should lose their monopoly status.
