Peace activists get jail time for Navy base breachr

• Reuters

Five elderly peace activists, two of them Jesuit priests, were sentenced on Monday to prison terms of two to 15 months for breaking into the Navy's Trident nuclear submarine base in Washington state.

The prison terms, to be followed by a year of supervised probation for each defendant once released, are about half of what prosecutors sought and were far more lenient than the maximum 10-year sentenced they faced after their convictions.
