Dozens of ex-prisoners in line for payouts

Barry George, acquitted of Jill Dando's murder, is claiming compensation after original £1.4m was denied

The man who was wrongly jailed over the murder of Jill Dando has been given new hope after a Supreme Court ruling over miscarriage of justice compensation refusals.

Barry George, who served eight years in prison before he was acquitted, on appeal, of  the television presenter's murder, is currently re-applying for compensation after his £1.4million claim was turned down.

A ruling paved the way for claims by other people who had their convictions overturned but were denied compensation.
