4th Amendment Effectively Dead in Pinal County
Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu was elected in 2008 on a platform of eliminating invasive and fraudulent automated ticketing within his jurisdiction. He claimed at the time the “public-private partnership“ between Redflex and municipalities was “corrupting law enforcement”.
The cameras came down as promised, and Paul received widespread media attention for his actions.
Now, that same Sheriff who pretended to be civil-liberties minded has pulled a draconian “one eighty,” and he’s coming for your eyeballs with a technology that makes speed cameras look like a children’s toy.
