Animals are shrinking and it may be due to climate change. So reads a new report from a team of Singapore scientists. First postulated by Charles Darwin as part of his adaptive theory of evolution, naturalists confirm that the phenomenon of animal shrinkage is happening as natural selection reacts to ongoing changes in the environment. The phenomenon of animals becoming more diminutive has been observed for more than a century. Now, according to a report appearing in the journal Nature Climate Change, polar bears can be added to the list of shrinking animals. The list already includes other animals such as toads and tortoises, Soay sheep and red deer.
