U.S. Stocks, Euro, Italian Bonds Retreat Amid IMF Questions

Stocks, the euro and Italian bonds fell as a disagreement on boosting the International Monetary Fund’s resources to fight Europe’s debt crisis overshadowed a drop in the U.S. jobless rate. Treasuries fluctuated.

The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index lost 0.6 percent to 1,253.91 at 9:30 a.m. in New York. The Stoxx Europe 600 Index retreated 0.6 percent as the euro weakened 0.4 percent to $1.3763 and 10-year Italian bond yields climbed 13 basis points. The S&P GSCI Index of commodities rose 0.2 percent, reversing most of an earlier 0.8 percent gain. Ten-year Treasury yields slipped less than one basis point to 2.07 percent after gaining six points earlier.
