Tea Party members still love Ron Paul, at least the ones living around Dubuque, Iowa.
Paul,
a Texas congressman, won a straw poll hosted Thursday by the Dubuque
Tea Party. A campaign press release declared his victory "a
demonstration of his Iowa operation's organizational muscle."
About
90 people participated in the poll, which included five elimination
rounds. Paul won the final round with 59 voters. Newt Gingrich placed
second with 24 votes.
"We have always said that Ron Paul and Tea
Party supporters have shared values," said Drew Ivers, Paul's Iowa
campaign chairman.
