Ron Paul hits a Grand Slam

Ron Paul hits a Grand Slam

Ron Paul’s presidential campaign bid hit the equivalent of a grand slam home run last week.  With the help of former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani and Fox News commentator Sean Hannity, the American people were finally exposed to the ideas and perspective of Congressman Ron Paul, one of ten republican candidates for president including Giuliani.

At last week’s republican presidential debate held on the campus of the University of South Carolina in Columbia, Ron Paul finished second behind Mitt Romney in the post-debate poll conducted by debate sponsor Fox News.  Ron Paul had already finished first in the MSNBC poll after the first republican presidential debate held at the Ronald R eagan library a couple of weeks earlier.

Ron Paul correctly identified the American government’s foreign policy as the root cause of the hatred toward the American government that has been instilled in the Middle East resulting in the September 11 attacks.  Dr. Paul went on to cite that if the Chinese government or any other government were to do the same to the United States as the United States government has done to other countries around the world, there would be equally as loud an uproar in the United States as there has been in the countries the American government continues to bomb and embargo.

As a result of Paul’s statement the former New York mayor stated that he had never heard of such an argument and was incensed that Dr. Paul would even suggest that such an idea were possible.  He demanded a retraction from Dr. Paul.  However, Dr. Paul refused to back down and provided even further proof by stating that even the CIA has cited the “blowback” that American foreign policy has provoked.

The American government continues to build up ruthless dictators like Saddam Hussein and Iran’s Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, then does a 180 and begins attacking and accusing them of accumulating weapons of mass destruction when it was the American government in the first place that allows them the opportunity to obtain such weapons.

Mr. Giuliani, by taking Dr. Paul to task on foreign policy, has taken Ron Paul’s campaign for the presidency to a higher level by allowing the American people to hear and understand the real reasons people around the world hate the American government.

Giuliani, Hannity, and many others cite the mantra, which continued to be stated in the debate last week, that people of the Middle East hate Americans for their freedom of religion, freedom of speech, and their many other precious freedoms they possess.  Nothing could be further from the truth as Ron Paul’s voice was finally heard loud and clear with the tremendous help of Mr. Giuliani and Mr. Hannity.

The American government and the country of America are not the same.  There is a vast difference between the two and is the reason why the Constitution was created in the first place, to protect the American people as well as the people of the world from the awesome power of the United States government.

Ron Paul’s message on foreign policy is embraced by many.  He also appears to be the only candidate that takes his oath of office seriously of preserving, protecting, and defending the Constitution of the United States.  Even Giuliani got it wrong last week when he said that the president is suppose to preserve, protect, and defend the United States.  He left off the key word, Constitution.

On the post debate show Fox News commentator Sean Hannity continued the discussion with Dr. Paul on how Dr. Paul could possibly blame the American people for the September 11 attacks.  Again, Dr. Paul never placed blame on the American people.  The blame he stated lies squarely with American government officials’ foreign policy that has been followed over the decades.

Now, hopefully in future debates Ron Paul will receive the respect he deserves.

Likewise, the American people deserve the opportunity to hear the truth about the American government’s foreign policy.

The real question is whether the media will allow the American people to be able to listen to and see that truth.  Thanks to Rudy Giuliani and Sean Hannity, last week, Americans were given that chance.

Hopefully, the delegates to the Republican national convention next summer in St. Paul-Minneapolis will hear the message and nominate the gentleman from Texas to be their nominee for President of the United States giving the American people the opportunity to restore the constitutional republic America use to be and not the empire it has become.

I think that some Americans are finally waking up to the fact that the fight should not be about Republicans versus Democrats the real fight should be restoring the Constitution.
Ron Paul is pro constitution all the way. Imagine an America where we can finally have a chance to get back to the principles of that document. A document that has kept us free for over 200 years. My hat is off to Ron Paul. He is so solid that Washington lobbyist don't even bother to knock on his door. What integrity!
