As Paul Harvey Might Say: The Real ‘Rest of the Story’

Re: Colorado schools earn C in nationwide report card State ranks 38th in U.S.; low teacher pay hurts score By Berny Morson, Rocky Mountain News (Contact)

As a Colorado teacher, I thank Berny Morson for reporting on the “C” grade ranking for Colorado schools.  That’s quite mediocre for a state featuring a high percentage of college grad parents.  Without a doubt, highly educated parents produce exceptionally bright and “A” grade prone students.

However, I take issue with the “low teacher pay hurts score” part of the headline.  A recent report showed that Denver Public Schools feature 85 languages from students from 105 countries.  I know that Spanish speaking children in many DPS classrooms cause total breakdown in the learning process.  You cannot expect illiterate to barely literate parents from foreign countries to prepare their kids for an education in a foreign tongue.

Thus, low teacher pay cannot be an excuse or a reason for poor achievement.  When you suffer language and cultural conflicts, you endure poor grades all around. You can hire poor teachers in any school, but if the school features all college educated parents with kids that enjoy high IQ’s and positive educational propensities, you will see excellent grades no matter what teacher you place at the head of the class.  Excellence and intellect become a driving force for continued academic distinction.

The easiest and most effective way to create excellent testing and grade results would be for the United States to enforce its immigration laws to prevent an overload of illegal aliens and their kids.  Secondly, it could make a proviso that all immigrants and their children must speak English before migrating into the USA.  That would promote excellence, positive attitude, single language teaching and everyone would be on the same page in the classroom.

As it is, we suffer linguistic chaos, poor learning, degraded educations and 50 to 75 percent drop out/flunk out rates across the country as reported in June 2008 by Brian Williams on NBC.  Detroit, featuring a massive immigration load from third world countries, suffers a 76 percent flunk out rate.  Denver’s featured a 67 percent flunk out rate in May 2005.  In the study, 5,663 students started the 6th grade in 1999, but only 1,884 graduated in 2005.  (Source: RMN “What Happened” May 16, 2005)

If we as a state and this nation as a whole, expect to survive in the 21st century as a first world country with a quality of life provided for all citizens, we cannot and we must not continue massive flooding of the world’s poor streaming into this country as if we can educate or even handle them with accelerating environmental problems magnified by their sheer numbers.  Since they add 77 million annually, our efforts to save two million a year cannot save the world, but we can destroy our own country's ability to remain sustainable.

Watch for serious water and energy shortages in the coming years, if we continue on this path.  In other words, we will all be miserable as we scrounge for resources! If we continue, you may expect an added 100 million people to the USA in 30 years and Colorado’s share will exceed five million more people.  That kind of a population overload cannot be sustained. Now, as Paul Harvey might say, “You have the ‘rest’ of the story.”

Roy Beck gives a graphic presentation of our fate if we continue to allow legal and illegal immigration to swamp this country. If you have children, you will be particular unnerved at their fate. I know Roy Beck personally and his integrity and knowledge stand at the top. Pass this web site 14 minute video far and wide across America to educate everyone you know. We either stop this human tsunami or the future of this country will be much like Rome's. We must, as a nation and a civilization, move to secure our country from this massive, unrelenting population overload from a line that never ends. This will be the most compelling 14 minute video of your life.

Bob Woodruff of ABC asked input from all citizens concerning the future of our planet.  Go to www.earth2100.tv for a sobering reality check as to what we face and to what I have been writing about for the past 20 years.  Our ‘window’ to change to a balanced population and non-polluting energy diminishes every day we listen to irresponsible media and thus ignore the blatant symptoms manifesting all over America and the planet.

This three minute interview with Adam Schrager on “Your Show” May 4, 2008, NBC Channel 9 News, addresses the ramifications of adding 120 million people to USA in 35 years and six million people to Colorado as to water shortages, air pollution, loss of farmland, energy costs and degradation of quality of life.  In the interview, Frosty Wooldridge explains the ramifications of adding 120 million people to the USA in 35 years. He advances new concepts such as a “Colorado Carrying Capacity Policy”; “Colorado Environmental Impact Policy”; “Colorado Water Usage Policy”; “Colorado Sustainable Population Policy”.  Nationally, the USA needs a "National Sustainable Population Policy" to determine the carrying capacity of this nation for the short and long term.  Wooldridge is available for interviews on radio and TV having interviewed on ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN and FOX.
