What's Good about Barack Obama?

A few months ago, a friend of mine
contacted me about writing something after having read my book, The War on Smokers and the Rise of the Nanny
State, and wanted me to contribute something for their Web site. What I was asked to write was almost impossible:
find something redeeming about Barack Obama.
This is a task I put off for months.
Unless you are a radical, left-wing, practitioner of the dark arts of
Lenin or Mao, you would be hard pressed to find much, if anything, redeeming
about the man.
Just writing President in front of Obama
is painful enough, let alone finding something redeeming about him. But after much thought, I think I have found
it. President Obama smokes! Yes, he’s a smoker. Which also makes him a huge hypocrite because
he has pushed Congress to pass the SCHIP tax on tobacco products for the
expansion of the unconstitutional federal health-care coverage for
children. A great many cigarette
smokers are poor; so he has actually favored a tax on the poor. Taxing the poor is something he would never
admit doing, but do it he has. He also
pushed Congress to pass expanded powers for the Food and Drug Administration to
regulate (harass) tobacco producers. And
he is responsible for national health care, forcing citizens to buy insurance. The federal government cannot constitutionally
make anyone purchase insurance of any kind.
But what does the Constitution mean to a disciple of Saul Alinsky? Of course, what did the Constitution ever
mean to George W. Bush or Bill Clinton or countless others of their
Smoking is a good thing for the chief
executive of the federal government to do, and it is an activity which benefits
the citizenry, as I shall explain. As
president, he is faced with a myriad of crises, which lead to stress. Smoking reduces stress. When faced with a crisis, a calm-collected
chief executive is a chief executive who will make more level- headed
decisions. Of course, a level-headed Mr.
Obama is still a danger to the nation.
Also, smoking is an appetite suppressant, which is undoubtedly a
contributing factor to the president’s slim frame. Think of all those fat people out there. What if more of you smoked? You, too, might lose weight and be
transported to “Flavor Country.” Also,
should Mr. Obama keep smoking, he may die later of respiratory complications,
but he will not likely die from Parkinson’s disease. The medical establishment is loath to admit
this, but smoking reduces the risk of contracting Parkinson’s.
When one considers the damage Mr. Obama
has done to our Constitution and his reckless abandon for the fiscal health of
the nation (we never talk about that kind of health anymore) with a debt at 13
Trillion, 431 Billion, 76 Million dollars and counting as of 11:20 pm CDT
on August the 23rd, it is reasonable to suggest that Barack Obama should be
impeached, arrested, and convicted of high treason. I do favor his right to smoke in prison,
note that the man has said he has stopped smoking or is stopping or will stop
or something like that, but I, like other intelligent Americans, don’t believe
him except when he forthrightly states his intention fundamentally to transform
the United States of America. I believe
