More About: Politics: General ActivismThe immigration factor: lack of energy to sustain our civilization
Part 10: Energy or the lack of it caused by demand of
diminishing supplies
A friend told me that his wife becomes very upset when he
reads one of my columns about the “immigration factor” which portends the
destruction and degradation of our country. He gets fuming angry and she
bears the brunt of it. She yelled, “If you’re going to get upset, don’t
read his op-eds.”
He replied, “But honey, I want to know what is happening to
our country. The truth hurts, but I need to know.”
Okay, I understand that I am writing serious and sobering
commentaries about the future and fate of the United States “IF” we continue
down this path of adding 100 million immigrants. My justification?
If you suffer from cancer, but don’t know it, you cannot cure yourself and deaths
awaits you.
By knowing what we are doing to ourselves and stopping the
“cancer of immigration” soon enough, we stand a chance of surviving. More
importantly, our kids might survive instead of perish in the quagmire/logjam of
humanity piling up on our shores.
If you’re looking for a blissful place and columns of all my
worldwide adventures, you can go to my “happy” website at www.HowToLiveALifeOfAdventure.com
and give yourself a deliriously ecstatic gift of books, articles, adventure
greeting card line, and DVD tapes that show you how to enjoy your life without
a care in the world. Even as I write these sobering commentaries that you
can witness happening all around you, I just took a two week bicycle trip this
month all over Utah. I enjoyed the heck out of myself. I need to clear my
mind from time to time because what I write about gets quite discouraging. Nevertheless, I’m back at my desk trying to
save America from its impending fate.
So, let’s get upset together about what will happen as to
our energy supply “IF” we add another 100 million immigrants.
Did you notice that gasoline jumped to $5.09 a gallon in
gallon last week in California? What will happen when it hits $15.00 a
gallon? How about $20.00 a gallon? What will you do when that happens and
it WILL happen as our immigration population adds 100 million to create even
more demand while supplies diminish? Answer: you and your kids face one
heck of a sobering future as to everything you do in this society. Oil
runs everything.
"The
cheap oil age created an artificial bubble of plentitude for a period not much
longer than a human lifetime....so I hazard to assert that as oil ceases to be
cheap and the world reserves move toward depletion, we will be left with an
enormous population...that the ecology of the earth will not support. The
journey back toward non-oil population homeostasis will not be pretty. We
will discover the hard way that population hyper growth was simply a
side-effect of the oil age. It was a condition, not a problem with a
solution. That is what happened and we are stuck with it." James Howard
Kunstler, The Long Emergency
Today, we burn 22 million barrels of oil in the USA
24/7. The world burns 84 million barrels of oil 24/7. Here’s the
kicker: China adds 16 million new cars to its highways every year. They
gallop toward the American way of life with a car in every garage and a chicken
in every pot. Within the next 18 years, by 2030, Kunstler said that China
will burn 98 million barrels of oil daily.
That’s more oil in one day for one country with 1.4 billion
people than the whole world burns in one day in 2012. What’s going to
happen?
The price of oil will skyrocket to $20.00 per gallon because of
supply and demand. (Source: $20 Per Gallon by Chris Steiner at Forbes)
In other words, it will change the way you live and it will
decline your standard of living and quality of life. As to carbon
footprint, that 98 million barrels alone, plus the world’s carbon footprint by
2030 with 100 million barrels of oil burned daily (total of 198 million
barrels burned 24/7)—will blast the biosphere with more carbon than can be
handled. (Source: www.350.org) Climate
destabilization! You haven’t seen anything yet compared to what’s coming.
This nightmare facing us grows beyond solving, but we keep
adding immigrants to make sure it worsens at a faster rate of speed.
Alternative energy: good luck with that Mrs. Magillicutty
You may hear all the talk about how green energy and
alternative energy will save us. Sorry, dead end. Ain’t going to happen!
In order to drive cars, boats, planes and fuel industry,
Americans use 22 million barrels of oil daily while the rest of the world burns
62 million barrels. Grand total of 84 million barrels of oil every 24
hours!
When you multiply 365 days by 84,000,000 barrels of oil burned
daily, it equals a whopping 29.9 billion barrels of oil annually.
If you remember your science, it took two billion years to
produce all the oil on this planet. In other words, when oil reserves
decline, (we surpassed “Peak Oil” in 2011), we exhaust the single major energy
source that drives our civilization and most other societies on this planet.
According to the Hubbert Curve and Richard Heinberg: Peak Everything—facing
a century of declines, we stand in the face of depleting oil reserves and exploding
human population.
To show how much energy oil provides the U.S. annually,
Michael Brownlee of www.transitionbouldercounty.com
provided an astounding graph of one cubic mile of oil. That’s how much
oil the world burns each year! That equals the same amount of energy
provided by 52 nuclear power plants built every year for 50 years or 104
operating coal-fired electrical plants built every year for 50 years or 32,000
wind turbines built every year for 50 years—and in continuous
operation—or 91,250,000 solar panels built every year for 50 years.
In other words, oil produces dramatically incredible amounts
of energy that we cannot and will not be able to duplicate in the coming
years.
Wouldn’t it make sense to call for a moratorium on all
immigration for ten years and then, only allow 100,000 annually into our
country that would benefit our country? Common sense?
Of course! Now, you must engage our leaders! Parts 3 and 4 will
give you added power to change the course of history.
