Generation Gap Part IX: Soren Kierkegaard

(Continued from June 06, 2014 Freedom's Phoenix - http://www.freedomsphoenix.com/Front-Page.htm

This is the last of the Generation Gap articles based on the Dave Breese book, Seven Men Who Rule the World from the Grave, with the subsequent Georgia Guideline parallel.  We are planning to print these in booklet form and make them available for larger distribution.  They are available now by e book.  Without being redundant, it is necessary to review briefly.  We have previously discussed six of these evil men, who should be considered, "wolves in sheep's clothing," because, in their life time, they would have been considered the finest of men, with the exception of Marx.  And even he had no criminal record.  These seven men were:

Charles Darwin – The Father of Organic and Social Evolution

Karl Marx – The Father of "Scientific" Socialism-by revolution-Communism
Julius Wellhausen – The Father of Religious Liberalism-Modernism

Sigmund Freud – The Father of Psychoanalysis Therapy – Psychology replaces religion

John Dewey – The Father of Modern Education – Schools replaced the homes and churches

John Maynard Keynes – The Father of Keynesian economics – The destruction of our sound monetary system

Soren Kierkegaard – The Father of existentialism – the destruction of Biblical morality

In the final analysis this last giant of rebellion against Christ and His Word, Kierkegaard, has probably done the worst damage to Christ and His Church, because he is, in our opinion, in the end, the most subtle of the other six.

Soren Kierkegaard

How is it possible for a man to be born in Denmark in 1813, a little insignificant corner of the world, live for only forty-two years, never work at manual labor a day in his life, live and write in relative obscurity, never accomplish anything, and yet be one of the most influential people that ever lived on earth, and then die and never know that his writings have made an impact on anyone in particular?  The answer is simple when you go to the scriptures.  Paul said, For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself. (Rom 14:7).  Someone has said long ago, error can go half way around the world before truth can get its pants on.  In fact the Psalmist said that very thing, "They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walketh through the earth. Psa 73:9.

How is it possible?  Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived, other than our Lord, said that he saw man travailing in labor and he was exercised in it.  In other words, man's work is his "moral gymnasium."  The ancients put it a different way, "idleness is the Devil's work shop."

A Recipe to Produce a Lawless Age

A wealthy father gives a spoiled son all of the funds that he needs to sustain himself in the finest colleges and universities in Europe, and all he does for the rest of his life is go to college, study under radical God hating professors, and then sit around and write whatever happens to come out of his twisted, warped, pea sized brain that the Devil puts into it.  What came out was his life's motto: "I conceived it as my task to create difficulties everywhere."

Then other pea sized so called broad minded idiots find his writings over one-hundred years later, and since they are such a jumbled and scrambled up mess of mush, they say, Wow! This is really intellectual and they translate it into English, publish it in America, pass it off to academia as some new revelation and voila, we have a new guru and a new name, for a new movement, for a new age, for the new times, Existentialism.

Paul also taught that when we do not give ourselves totally over to Christ, Satan can take us "captive at his will" (2 Tim. 2:26).  Obviously we have here a prime example of this.

Now mind you, no one knows what existentialism is, or what it's supposed to mean, but everyone hops on the band wagon and says, that's what I must be, and that's what I want to be.  Existentialism doesn't have a definition, it only has an explanation.  Miriam Webster's On Line Dictionary:

"Definition of EXISTENTIALISM:  a chiefly 20th century philosophical movement embracing diverse doctrines but centering on analysis of individual existence in an unfathomable universe and the plight of the individual who must assume ultimate responsibility for acts of free will without any certain knowledge of what is right or wrong or good or bad."   It goes on to say that the word did not exist before 1941.

This is the doctrine that the writings of Soren Kierkegaard, called, "the melancholy Dane," produced.  His followers called his writings "divine intoxication."  And what is this "divine intoxication"?  We will let Soren speak for himself,   "…I was quite in the fashion as the preacher of a gospel of worldliness…". "Divine intoxication?"  How prophetic.  and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication. (Rev. 17:2b),  For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, (Rev 18:3a).

I think it is interesting that the late Dr. Vance Havner, the Southern Baptist Evangelist, when asked the meaning of Babylon, answered, "I don't know, but whatever it is, it is the world in the church."

Breese declares that we are dealing with insanity.  And yet this has become the most pervasive philosophy of our time.  Even though it is a form of insanity

According to Breese - Existentialism has now become the foundation of all of the philosophy departments in every major university in western civilization.  It is now difficult, if not impossible to root it out and destroy it.

This would also include the law because they are now teaching the evolution of the law in the law schools, especially where it comes to the issue of "fixed law."  The Supreme Court is applying this principle to decision after decision including Roe v Wade (abortion on demand), same sex marriage, legalization of pornography, legalization of sodomy, legalization of drugs, the total removal of religion from public life and many other things that we could mention.  There were laws against public nudity, but these have now been almost totally eliminated.  Women come into Dunkin' Donuts in the little town that I live in Florida every morning in their underwear.  Not just young girls, many of them middle aged and even older women.  I am sure that some slept in what they wear on the streets.  Walmart dress is no different.  The criminal justice system has almost been turned upside down to the point that the criminals have literally taken over the streets.  Gangs now control many of the inner cities of some of the largest cities in America.

Existentialism a mixed drink

Existentialism has five deadly poisons:

1.        It is Eccumenical – "embracing diverse doctrines" - This speaks of the World Religion that is one mass confusion of doctrine:  And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. Rev 18:2.

2.         It centers on the individual  (individualism) –– Atheism – Man is god

3.         Unfathomable universe – Evolution – Eternality of the universe

4.          Man is the Measure of all things – He is his own judge – The individual must assume responsibility for acts of free will

5.           Situation ethics - No certain knowledge of good or evil – Man is wise enough to determine right from wrong.  Satan said to Eve, …ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.   (Gen 3:5)

This is the Tower of Babel risen up again.  This is the age of confusion.  Right is wrong and wrong is right.  Black is white and white is black.  Good is bad and bad is good.  Up is down and down is up.  Children have their parents so confused that they finally just throw up their hands and say, have your own way, "we give up."  The kids have taken over the schools, the workers have taken over the factories, the members have taken over the churches, the people have taken over their governments through opinion polls, and the inmates have taken over the asylums.

But that is Kierkegaard, as Breese puts it, "…on one page, he seems to contradict what he has said on the preceding page…the frustrations of attempting to understand him go on and on…the result of (his) emergence in the middle of the twentieth century can be described as theological and philosophical diffusion.  Thinking moved from the rational to the irrational; reason gave way to feeling.  Final truth slipped away, and the thinking of the world became a set of self-contradictions.  Theological and philosophic diffusion – that is existentialism."

Breese continues as he tries almost in vain to explain existentialism.  "The refusal to belong to any school of thought, the repudiation of the adequacy of any body of beliefs whatever, and especially of systems, and a marked dissatisfaction with a traditional philosophy as superficial, academic, and remote from life – that is the heart of existentialism."  Then Breese says, "The heart of existentialism – now we have it."

Now can you understand the female soldier who recently refused to salute the American flag, or women who demand to go into combat with men, or males who don't know whether they are females or women who don't know whether they are men, and legislators who want uni-sex restrooms in public schools, and College Administrators who want Co-ed Dorms, and sodomites who want to turn our military bases into pink lemonade sitting rooms rather than fighting arenas and a Congress and President who allows it.  And courts who allow teens to sue their parents because they don't like the rules of the home, and the young lady who recently married her dog, and reality shows that glorify polygamy and the ratings skyrocket, and organizations openly court pedophilia.  The scripture says, There is no fear of God before their eyes. (Rom 3:18)

Granted there is a vast expanse of existentialists which are basically the Neo-Babylonians.  We are literally living in a confused upside down world from what our fathers and mothers lived in 100 and even fifty years ago.  Not all are atheists, but be assured all are Darwinists of one stripe or another.    There are Christian Protestants such as Kierkegaard, who considered himself a dedicated Christian who prayed regularly.  Multitudes claim to be Catholics, who believe in abortion, birth control, divorce and who haven't seen the inside of a confessional, or taken communion since childhood.  These Neo-Babylonians cross all spectrums of the political scene, conservative, liberal and libertarian.  But because in this Brave New World as Huxley envisioned, the only sin is to do harm to someone else, anything goes, so have it your way, therefore, morality is in the eye of the beholder, so dress as you wish, or don't dress, fornicate as you will, what is right is what's right for you.  They are the ones who voted in all of this liberal legislation and now we have euthanasia through the new universal health care law (Obamacare).  Existentialism produced the raging, resentful youth culture of the 1960's which exploded at Woodstock.  The world has never been the same since.  It produced the drug and rock culture that has totally cut this generation off from their parent's generation.

We have now crossed over into the counter-culture where those of the sixties cut their hair, took a shower and walked into the boardrooms of the largest corporations in America, including the area of politics and religion.  They are now retiring and their children are the millennials, who for the most part have no faith, no morals, no loyalties and no conscience of right and wrong.  They are ready to embrace the New World Order that is coming.  They are the ones that are ready to now implement the final solution for world peace that will usher in that Man of Sin that John spoke of in his prophecy.  And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him? And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.  And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.  And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. (Rev 13:4-7).

But these or their descendants will be destroyed when the Lord Jesus Christ shall come in His glory, unless they repent. Rev 19:11-21  And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.  And he was clothed with a vesture  dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.  And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.  And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.  And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.  And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God;  That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great. 19 And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.  And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.  And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh.  (Rev 19:11-21).

Someone might say, "Is this the terminal generation, is there no hope for this present evil world but to end in judgment as Sodom and Gomorrah and the World before the flood.  The answer is no.  Because God is not only a God of holiness and justice, but He is also a God of love and mercy.  Isaiah the prophet, after warning ancient Israel that they were on the brink of judgment for their sins, repeated these words of mercy five times, "For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still."

After God warned the antediluvian world that He was going to destroy the world with a world- wide flood and told Noah to build an ark he delayed the inevitable more than 120 years.  After Jonah told Nineveh that they had forty days to repent, after they did repent, it was 150 years before God destroyed mighty Assyria and the city of Nineveh.  God told Abraham that if there were ten righteous men in Sodom He would not destroy the city.

God has given the formula for national survival and it doesn't depend on the might, wealth, education system, or form of government that a nation may exhibit, it depends on an ancient   formula that God gave to the wisest man who ever lived, King Solomon, which was for the nation of Israel and applies to every nation on earth.  Just after the dedication of the Temple in Jerusalem in approximately 960 BC, God appeared to Solomon and said, If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people;

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

First there would have to be a mighty moving of repentance and holiness among the pastors of the land that would have to sweep into the pews and into the homes.  Then there would have to be a repentance and turning on the part of the political leadership in the area of abortion on demand, the legalization of sodomy and same sex marriage, the relaxing of pornography laws and public nudity and blasphemy over the air waves, especially TV by the FCC, and the euthanizing of the elderly.  It would be impossible to change all of the ills of society and everyone has their own set of problems that they want changed, but there has to be a beginning.  Just these five areas would go a long way of changing the moral landscape of America.  And as America goes, so goes the world.  Even if the leadership would make a public declaration that they repent and desire to work toward correcting these problems, no doubt would get the attention of a merciful God.

However, as history has shown, a democracy cannot change once the people have tasted freedom.  The polls show that Obama and the Democrats got the "Sin" vote the last time around.  Chances are, the pendulum may swing back to the right, but it swings only so far, and the next election it generally swings farther to the left again.  Time is running out nationally, but for us as individuals, the words of the prophet still applies, Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.  And, For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.  (Joh 3:16.)
