Jill Stein's Response to Farcical Trump/Hillary Face-Off

Jill Stein's Response to Farcical Trump/Hillary Face-Off

by Stephen Lendman

Stein's campaign, straight talk, progressive agenda and comportment are what real democracy looks like - polar opposite one-party state duopoly rule, representing plutocracy and tyranny, not governance of, by and for everyone equitably.

She's a physician wanting her medical skills used to help heal a sick nation. Barred from participating in Monday's Trump/Hillary face-off, it proceeded as pre-scripted theater, viewers learning nothing about how either aspirant would govern.

Stein's involvement would have turned farcical proceedings into meaningful debate, discussing real issues, providing real solutions to issues devastating millions of people at home and abroad.

Excluding her and Gary Johnson smoothes the way for unobstructed continuity - likely dirtier than ever dirty business as usual under Obama's successor, the real threat of nuclear war if it's Hillary, likely at this point.

Ahead of Monday's demagogic display, Stein's campaign manager, David Cobb, said police state harshness confronted her. Despite having press credentials, she "was literally escorted off" the Hofstra campus site.

Ahead of the Monday night face-off, she hosted a "People's Debate" on Periscope, over 3,500 people watching, scores of supporters accompanying her to Hofstra.

Separately she tweeted: "Civil disobedience happening now! More police are arriving. #OccupyTheDebates will not move! It's time for #OpenDebates! #debatenight."

Over an hour later, she tweeted: "Demonstrators are being arrested at the #OccupyTheDebates rally. This is not what democracy looks like. #debatenight twitter.com/inewsreporter/…"

On Monday, RT International covered her live stream Q&A on social media, watched by over 10,000 viewers, likely more before it ended, contrasting her progressive agenda with debauched duopoly governance.

She covered proposals in her Power to the People Plan. A previous article discussed it, repeated below, putting ordinary people, peace and ecosanity over profits.

She proposed a "Green New Deal," creating millions of good jobs, transitioning to clean renewable energy, and investing in vital infrastructure sorely neglected for so long - America's resources today going for militarism and endless wars, not a nation fit to live in.

Living-wage jobs are a human right, she stressed. Democracy should mean what it says - rule of and for all the people, not just its privileged few.

The world's richest nation should prioritize ending poverty once and for all "to assure every American a life of dignity," she explained.

Healthcare and education are human rights. Jill wants them guaranteed, including Medicare for all, abolition of student debt and "world-class" tuition-free public education to the highest levels. Other components of her plan include:

a federally guaranteed $15 minimum wage;

breaking up too-big-to fail banks;

"democratiz(ing) the Federal Reserve," putting money power in public hands where it belongs;

progressive business and individual taxation;

fair over so-called free trade agreements;

ecosanity;

putting a moratorium on GMOs and harmful pesticides;

racial justice along with freedom and equality for all;

ending Big Brother spying, mass incarceration, torture prisons like Guantanamo, and "(e)stablish(ing) a foreign policy based on diplomacy, international law and human rights.

Cut military spending in half, she urged. End imperial wars. Close America's empire of bases and bring all foreign-based US forces home.

Abolish corporate personhood. Reform America's debauched political system. Use the nation's resources for productive, not destructive purposes.

Make it the world's most respected one, instead of the most feared and reviled like now.

Stein is the only presidential candidate taking no funding from monied interests, war-profiteers the fossil fuel industry, or other corporate predators, she explained.

She's the type leader America and humanity need at the most perilous time in world history.
