Human Rights Watch Fake News on Syria

by Stephen Lendman

George Soros generously funds numerous organizations for personal gain - Amnesty International (AI) and Human Rights Watch (HRW) among them.

In 2010, he announced a $100 million grant to HRW from his Open Society Foundation - on the phony pretext of protecting and promoting human rights worldwide. He challenged HRW to raise a comparable amount from other private donors.

On February 7, AI published a report on mass exterminations at Syria's Saydnaya prison. It was strategically timed to coincide with Trump's early days in office - aimed at undermining his involvement in resolving Syria's conflict, along with his pledge to work with Russia cooperatively in combating terrorism.

AI's report was fake news. No credible evidence supported its claim about Syrian authorities extrajudicially executing from 5,000 to 13,000 prisoners from September 2011 to December 2015.

So-called information was gotten from individuals living outside the country, ones opposed to Syria's government, giving them good reason to lie. AI reported fake news, falsely claiming it was real.

All too often, HRW does the same thing. Big money from disreputable sources like Soros buys lots of misinformation and Big Lies - its February 13 report the latest example.

Headlined "Syria: Coordinated Chemical Attacks on Aleppo," it claimed government forces used chemical weapons against "opposition-controlled parts of" the city.

Like AI's week ago report, no credible evidence was cited. So-called "opposition-controlled parts of Aleppo" were infested with al-Nusra and other terrorists - infamous for using chemical and other banned weapons against civilians, along with committing other gruesome atrocities.

No mention of this by HRW, just fabricated anti-Syria claims. It has no representatives on the ground in Aleppo, information gotten from so-called witnesses, hostile to Assad, eager to falsely accuse him of war crimes.

HRW also claimed it has "video footage, photographs, and posts on social media" - easy to fabricate like many times before in making false accusations against Assad.

According to HRW's Ole Solvang, "(t)he pattern of the chlorine attacks shows that they were coordinated with the overall military strategy for retaking Aleppo, not the work of a few rogue elements."

"The United Nations Security Council shouldn't let Syrian authorities or anyone else who has used chemical weapons get away without consequences."

Fact: Throughout six years of imperial war on Syria, Assad was falsely accused numerous times of using chemical weapons. No credible evidence proved it. Plenty showed US-supported terrorists used these agents, at times supplied by Saudi Arabia, unmentioned in HRW's report.

What's going on? The timing of the AI and HRW reports wasn't coincidental. They aim to undermine Russian-led conflict resolution talks, along with US/Russian cooperation in combating terrorism.

Dark forces like Soros profit from endless wars and turmoil. Peace and stability defeat their agenda. So do independent leaders like Putin, China's Xi Jinping, Iran's Imam Khamenei and Hassan Rouhani, Venezuela's Nicolas Maduro, and Syria's Bashar al-Assad.

They want them all vilified and replaced by pro-Western regimes, serving Washington and its rogue partners.
