US Terror-Bombing Killing Thousands of Civilians

by Stephen Lendman

AirWars.org calls itself "a journalist-led transparency project. It "(m)onitor(s) and assess(es) civilian casualties from international airstrikes in Iraq, Syria and Libya (from) open-source reports and military claims by nations."

From August 2014 - March 21, 2017, it estimates up to nearly 9,800 civilian deaths from US-led terror-bombing in Iraq and Syria, citing casualties from over 1,000 incidents.

Civilian deaths and injuries aren't aberrations. They occur virtually daily from indiscriminate terror-bombing.

AirWars' figures likely way undercount the full extent of massacres committed by America and its rogue allies, unconcerned about the human toll. Imperial priorities alone matter.

According to Iraqi General Sair al-Mousavi, about 4,000 civilians were killed so far in the battle for western Mosul, thousands of residential houses destroyed, families inside buried under rubble.

Civilian men, women, children, the elderly and infirm in harm's way are being indiscriminately slaughtered - out of sight and mind because media scoundrels remain silent.

Public knowledge of the March 17 Mosul massacre belies the coverup of sustained US-led barbarism, harming area civilians most.

How many US atrocities went unreported in Iraq and Syria? Administration and Pentagon claims about the need to protect civilian lives is utter rubbish.

US rules of engagement permit anything. What's required to be observed is ignored. Laws of war and international humanitarian laws don't matter.

Washington rules override them. Mass slaughter and destruction occur in all US war theaters, chaos and appalling human suffering of no consequence.

Wars are waged to advance America's imperium. They're not about humanitarian intervention or democracy building.

The horror of what's ongoing in Iraq and Syria is virtually unreported in the West.

Barbarous campaigns are falsely portrayed as liberating struggles. Most Americans are none the wiser. Media scoundrels suppress what's vital to know.
