Feature Article Celebrating the Fight for Freedom on the Fourth - by Ron Paul Powell Gammill
This
country was founded on principles of freedom from overbearing rulers,
onerous taxation, and the right to live our lives as we see fit. Our
independence was won after decades, and even centuries of abuses that
unscrupulous, corrupted leaders and big governments visited upon their
subjects. The Founders knew there was a better way, and they forged it here on this soil.
News July 4, 1776: Preserving the Declaration

Wired
1776: The Declaration of Independence is signed. It
will take 127 years before someone gets around to saying, Hey, maybe
we should preserve this thing.
The Declaration of Independence can be fairly said to stand alongside the Magna Carta
and Bill of Rights as the most important documents in the history of
democracy. Its significance was understood from the moment it was
signed, so one is left to wonder why its preservation was ignored for
so long.
During the Revolutionary War, the Declaration of Independence was
rolled up and toted around like a Thomas Bros. map, although, given the
vicissitudes of war, thats perhaps understandable. Less understandable
is what came later. Water was spilled on it while it was being copied
in 1823. Then it was tacked up on the wall at the U.S. Patent Office
for about 40 years, where it was subjected to a strong northern light.
Finally, the suggestion was made in 1903 that maybe it shouldnt be

Is your city puting on a massive pyrotechnics display this weekend?
Or maybe just your neighbor Carl? Either way, you can learn how to
capture the moment in all its noisy, exploding glory with a digital
camera.
Ideally, it pays to use a camera that offers some level of
manual control over the settings. That way, you can dial in the best
exposure, aperture and focus settings to achieve the best results.
But you can still take good photos of a fireworks display no matter what kind of camera you have. Yep, even the iPhone!
News Should the Church Wave the Flag?
07-04-2009
Jeffrey A. Tucker for LewRockwell.com
The Catholic
Church in America in the 19th century would have never featured
an American flag anywhere in sight. This trend began in World War
I: the German parishes were pressured to show their loyalty to the
state and its war.
The trend picked
up steam in World War II, when the Italians too were suspected and
so had to declare their loyalty. The flag issue became universal
during the Cold War when everyone was expected to rally around the
nation in its fight against its foreign adversaries.
But looking in back in time to the 18th century and before, to say
nothing of the European middle ages and back before the invention
of the very idea of the nation state, this entire project would
have been completely unknown: the Church nowhere swears allegiance
to the state and Christians ar
On Independence Day, the bell tolls for liberty and freedom even for the liberty to think of murder, or in a larger scale, the freedom not to honor but to destroy our ancestral idealism.

News The American Dream Is Becoming The American Nightmare

The PatriotJournal
President Obama and the far left Congress are passing legislation that is going to fundamentally change the way we live and will decide whether or not we freeze in the winter or bake in the summer or whether we will be able to put bread on the table or even be able to work. The Cap & Trade bill (the take over of the energy industry), socialized medicine, the take over of the financial system and the auto industry is just the beginning. Next will come natural resources and slowly but surely states rights. In the end we will be forced to rely on government for existence. This is bad, so very bad! The law of the Constitution is being broken. Treason is happening and most of us are trying to pick our jaws off the ground. The scary part comes when the jaw is back in place and the anger starts brewing.

Opinion A Liberty Moment
Facing Reality
06-15-2009 Howard Blitz
German literary giant, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, who lived during the time of the founding of the United States, articulated None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who think they are free. We the people must face that reality if individuals want true freedom.
The Declaration of Independence states that all human beings have the inalienable right to pursue happiness. It does not say that individuals have a right to happiness, just the right to seek it out however the individual defines happiness. The Declaration of Independence also states that the only purpose for the existence of government is to make sure all individuals have this right secured, i.e. no one initiates force on another interfering with their right to pursue happiness.
What all this means is that individuals do not need any permission from their government to pursue their happiness. They may need permission from other individuals or private businesses,
