It will be hot so bring water, hat and sunblock lotion.  We will have signs and banners about the war.  This action is to focus on the war in Afghanistan and the continuing escalation of hostilities- let's stay focused on our message of peace with justice. We are there to nonviolenlty oppose the wars.



   Traffic will be congested near the convention center   Take public transportation or get dropped off nearby and walk.


Directions to the Phoenix Convention Center ( Phoenix Civic Plaza):


The major cross streets of the Phoenix Convention Center are Monroe to Jefferson, 2nd to 5th Street.

From North Phoenix/Scottsdale: Take the Piestewa Peak Parkway (SR 51) south to I-10. Exit I-10 at Washington/Jefferson Street. Turn right (west) on Washington Street to 7th Street.

From East Valley: Take I-60 west to Interstate 10 west. Exit I-10 at Washington. Take a left (west) on Washington to 7th Street. 

From West/Southwest Phoenix: Take I-10 east to 7th Street exit. Turn right (south) on 7th Street to Washington.

From Northwest Phoenix/Glendale: Take I-17 south to Jefferson Street. Turn left (east) on Jefferson Street to First Street.

By METRO Light Rail: Use the 3rd Street/Washington or 3rd Street/ Jefferson station.

Lacey, first I resented you for out-gonzoing me but Lucky Red is now a threat to both of us. Let's get rid of him as we have so many other unpopular authors and commentators here: by frying them alive in fish oil and selling them to Chinese restaurants.

To other readers, I realize this method of editorial control might be unconventional, we find it an efficient process. It preserves journalistic integrity while brining in some spare cash at the same time. And properly prepared, an un-popular commentator can really be quite succulent.

Try some on your next visit to Phoenix and I think you'll agree. We haven't served chicken in metro Phoenix for years.

President Obama is coming to Phoenix this weekend and you have the opportunity to welcome him to Arizona and show how important health reform is this year. I hope you can make it!

Here are the details:

Organizing for America, Arizonans for Health Reform and I will lead a welcome march Monday morning. I will also be speaking at the event. This will be a great opportunity to show President Obama your support for health reform this year and to welcome him to Arizona!

Welcome March
When: Monday, Aug. 17 at 7 a.m.
Where: Northeast corner of Washington Street and Central Avenue downtown.
Parking: Meet at the Arizona Democratic Party parking lot, 2914 N. Central Ave., at 6:45 a.m. to join a crew who will be taking the Light Rail to the Washington and Central stop (stop 13).
Please wear blue or Obama t-shirts and your smiles!
