While watching football over at my daughter's home, I got a call from Channel 15 asking if I could explain the motivation behind the "Support First Responders" campaign. I am hopeful that the traditional media will join FreedomsPhoenix in getting an official statement in writting from the City of Phoenix (to begin with) as to what their policies are regarding City of Phoenix employees being coerced into taking vaccines.
This passed week we have been in contact with the Mayor's office, Phoenix Police, Phoenix Fire Department and the Phoenix City Manager. I can get nothing in writting and verbal communications have been unconvincing (too many hedge words).
Just this year many "Emergency" laws were altered or passed just here in Arizona, and in most other municipalities. I'm worried, and so are many others,... and we demand immediate answers. Monday we will submit Freedom of Information requests to the City of Phoenix' City Manager (because the City Mayor's office said that the final decision rests with the City Manager and that the City Council has no power over that decision - The City Manager's Communications Director would not talk to us and had a Fire Department spokesperson call me. They could not speak for the City Manager's office)
The effort to obtain simple information from a government that works for us has been followed by many on this site and through the morning and afternoon radio shows. This sign, DVD and printed material campaign has been the result of our not getting the answers we require.
Now the questions will get even more detailed...
Wouldn't you like to know how many doses of the H1N1 have been shipped to Arizona, to whom/what? What laws could be used to force the taking of the vaccines? What data supports the program in the first place?... etc.
Stay tuned,... we're going to need your help on this effort I think.
ABC's TV 15 will broadcast a 'surprise interview' that I agreed to in order to get the issue spread as far as possible in as short a time as possible.... time is a'tik'n.
UPDATE: I just got a call from someone I know that involved in internal Republican politics in Maricopa County that said he knows of a court case already filed where a City of Phoenix employee recorded a conversation with a superior where they were told that refusing to take a 'required' vaccine would result in the loss of their job... we are working now to confirm this via court records. We will also include in the Freedom of Information requests questions about any pending cases on the subject.
Printing finished today - Signs already going up across the state - Online site being finished - Other activities already under way this weekend that we'll highlight Monday :) (What did you think we were going to do?... allow forced shots?)
