United Airlines Asks Dave Carroll to Pull Damaging Video
By Sharlene Holt
Here's one of the most satisfying stories of the year...a harsh lesson for United Airlines! Since I own and play a Taylor guitar, I was especially amused to watch the video, which features one. In appreciation for the product recognition from the video, which has lead to a sharp increase in orders, Taylor Guitars sent the musician two new custom guitars! Here's the story. A musician named Dave Carroll had difficulty recently with United Airlines. Apparently, United damaged his treasured Taylor guitar ($3,500) during a flight. Dave spent over nine months trying to get United to pay for damages caused by baggage handlers to his custom Taylor guitar.
During his final exchange with the United Customer Relations Manager, he stated that he was left with no choice other than to create a music video for YouTube exposing their lack of cooperation. The manager had responded , "Good luck with that one, pal." Dave posted a video on YouTube, which has since received almost seven million hits. United Airlines contacted the musician and attempted settlement in exchange for pulling the video. Naturally his response was, "Good luck with that one, pal."
