NYT War on Trump
by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org - Home - Stephen Lendman)
The Times never forgave Trump for defeating media darling Hillary.
In mid-October 2016, it gave her "a 91% chance to win.
On November 8, 2016, election day in the US, the Times said "Hillary Clinton has an 85% chance to win."
Trump won. She lost. The Times remains unforgiving, seeking revenge in November.
At war with Trump for the wrong reasons, ignoring key important ones, the Times provided press agent services for Hillary, the same now for Biden, both figures ethically, morally and legally compromised.
For Biden, his cognitive decline indicates he's not up to handling the job of president and commander-in-chief mentally and emotionally.
There's nothing redeeming about both standard bearers, neither fit for any public office, clearly not the highest.
Instead of fair, balanced and accurate reporting on both candidates, the Times relentlessly bashes Trump while publishing pro-Biden puff pieces.
Some recent examples of the latter include these headlined reports:
"Over 100 Ex-Staff Members for John McCain Endorse Joe Biden"
"The Risks if Biden Loses," separately asking:
"If Joe Biden doesn't win, could we survive his loss?"
"Joe Biden Says Age Is Just a Number"
"Biden is the Law and Order Candidate"
A written for Biden op-ed the Times published claimed he knows how to "get the economy back on track" — ignoring made-in-the-USA coronavirus and economic collapse.
"Joe Biden: The Anti-Chaos Candidate"
"Biden Speaks Once More With Feeling"
"Biden Wants to Return to a Normal Foreign Policy"
Dems are more belligerent than Republicans. From WW I to the present day, Dem presidents launched most US wars.
Based on his support for US aggression for nearly half a century, Biden's normal foreign policy notion is likely smashing more nations not controlled by Washington than already.
On all things Trump, the Times is unrelentingly nasty with reports like the following:
"Head-spinning developments…inside the Trump White House"
"Trump's Tactic: Sowing Distrust in Whatever Gets in His Way"
"The Towering Lies of President Trump," adding:
"It's simple. Everything that benefits Mr. Trump is true and everything that inconveniences him is false."
"More Than Ever, Trump Casts Himself as the Defender of White America"
From inception, the US has always been a culture of racist inequality, injustice, and violence.
Black Americans, immigrants from the wrong countries, and Muslims are abused most of all — mistreated like 5th column threats, their fundamental rights denied.
Both right wings of the one-party state share guilt.
US drug laws Biden backed are fundamentally racist. So is its gulag prison system he supports, including global torture prisons.
Senator Edward Brooke (1967 - 1979), the body's first African/American, called a racist amendment Biden supported "the greatest symbolic defeat for civil rights since 1964."
Biden once said "I do not buy the concept, popular in the 60s, which said '(w)e have suppressed the black man for 300 years, and the white man is now far ahead in the race for everything our society offers," adding:
"In order to even the score, we must now give the black man a head start, or even hold the white man back, to even the race.' I don't buy that."
He supported draconian anti-drug legislation that led to mass incarceration of Blacks and Latinos.
He backed the 1994 Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act — largely targeting people of color.
Instead of supporting equity and justice under law, policies Biden backed opposed these principles.
Throughout his public life, he's been an anti-populist/law and order hardliner — polar opposite the lunch bucket/middle class Joe image he and his handlers try to portray.
He prioritizes serving privileged interests over the general welfare, war over peace, and police state toughness over equity and justice for all.
According to the Washington Examiner, "Biden bragged (that) he wrote the (USA) Patriot Act" with remarks like the following:
"I drafted a terrorism bill after the (1995) Oklahoma City bombing."
"And the bill (Bush/Cheney Attorney General) John Ashcroft sent up was my bill."
Lawyer Nancy Chang earlier slammed the draconian measure, saying "(t)here's nothing patriotic about trampling on the Bill of Rights."
The measure greatly eroded constitutional protections under the First, Fourth, Fifth, Eighth, and 14th Amendments — including for the first time creating the crime of domestic terrorism.
In 2011, the Washington Post reported that Patriot Act legislation was used in 1,618 drug cases, only 15 so-called "terrorism cases."
Biden's near-half century as US senator and vice president showed he's unapologetically hardline.
No matter which wing of the one-party state controls the White House, Congress, and the courts, privilege always benefits at the expense of peace, equity, justice and the rule of law."
