This week's episode will feature Ernest:

GUEST 1: Thomas Freedman

Thomas Freedman left the corporate world as a Software Engineer behind in 2007 to relocate to rural Missouri. He worked for many startup companies in Austin Texas where he spent most of his life. Technology has always been a passion for Thomas from his early childhood.

In 2019 Thomas answered Ernie Hancock's call for help to develop a "Pirate Box" using IPFS, delivering the 1st of several versions at the spring Midfest in 2021.

Thomas continues to work with IPFS. In 2021 he graduated Richard Grove's Autonomy course where he met Matt Raymer of Content Safe. Matt saw the value of Thomas' work and they began work with Mark Marasch on CensorGuard, a product to address the censorship problem faced by publishers and their audiences.

Show topic:  Searching IPFS content with ARNIIE and
                       CensorGuard

MAJOR POINT:  There is no centralized index of IPFS content,
                            PERIOD.

1) All searches require an index, usually comprised of content metadata

2) ARNIIE's index is a small database that associates related information like IPFS hashes (CIDs), audio, video, thumbnail files, description, author, date published etc (metadata).

3) ARNIIE builds an index as content is added through the CensorGuard GUI at publication time. In the future they can be built from transcripts created by AI directly from MP4 / MP3

4) CensorGuard can search the indexes I created for my IPFS nodes (20,000 videos over 6 years), or any index shared by ARNIIE through Reticulum.

5) ARNIIE searches and indexes are decentralized. A future approach would be to share search query strings using Reticulum so searching multiple indexes simultaneously is done remotely, like the popular YaCy search engine.
