While not the act of war the headline makes the story out to be, it does say that Britain is willing to cut diplomatic ties with Ecuador by booting the embassy out in order to nab Assange.  At a time when the relationship between Britain and Argentina are back in the shits and a S. American ally would normally be valued.

And what is Assange at least overtly to the British government?

He is defying them.

He is not wanted for any crime in Britain or its commonwealth.  He is wanted by another nation.  For a crime that is not even a crime in Britain.

He skipped his bail and fled the county (by going to the embassy) and asked for protection from Britain.

And for this, Britain threatens to kick Ecuador out.  Interesting.
