I’m taking some time out from the many things I got to do
today setting up the HQ to share some 3 important bits of news...
1) Tonight we meet for the first time at the Western
Libertarian Alliance HQ. “We”? Well, those who are willing to get fingernails
dirty advocating for Liberty.
This is best explained by doing, so if you pay attention you’ll be inspired.
(7pm – 9pm+ 4700 N Central #102 / A downtown liberal art gallery ‘The Paper
Heart’ is showing “America:
Freedom to Fascism” at 9:30pm for those interested)
2) KPHX 1480 called to offer me a Sunday talk show to begin
March 25th. The Air America Phoenix people that I worked with for a
year and a half have teamed up with Sheldon Drobney and his wife Anita (one of
the co-founders of Air America).
KPHX is the flag ship of 10 stations that spread across the country. They have
also linked up with Sirius Satellite Radio. Not only do they know me to be a hard
core, no-compromise Classical Liberal (i.e. libertarian) it is what they are counting on to add to their stable
of hosts. This is a “Progressive Network” (so progressive they are adding a
libertarian to the lineup). I know all of the people involved very well and
they know me, so there is no attempt at altering my long stated (and Internet
archived) positions on the proper role of government and what I see is coming
fast to the individual lives of Americans. So while I am very pleased with this
opportunity to expand the message and will take all of the opportunities
offered me to guest host for some of their other hosts with very large
audiences, I am not too surprised because many are seeing the logic and reason
of libertarian philosophy as the world starts its global collectivist meltdown.
Independence with Ernest Hancock
will start off where it left off 2 years ago when I became the producer for the
then already famous Charles Goyette. FreedomsPhoenix took all of my time and I
saw the Internet as the future, so I left radio to have the most influence on
the freedom movement I could. FreedomsPhoenix was the vehicle that drew me to
the network’s attention and helped my friends at the station convince the
network to try my show for 3-6 months to see what impact I’d have. A very nice
surprise for all of us.
My talk show’s radio archive is still in place and still
gets between 15,000 and 20,000 downloads a month (gott’a love Google). Michael
Kielsky from www.Betterthanyours.com
pioneered MP3 archiving with me years before “podcasting” was even a word from the beginning. We started on KXAM as the morning show (an amazing set of circumstances allowed a hard core libertarian a morning show for 2 hours every weekday in one of the top media markets in the world (imagine all of the trouble we created). Later I would move to KFNX 1100 and then later become Charles' producer.
Working with Tyger Gilbert at www.AZwebAds.com
Michael will be linking up
the capacity of the Radio Show with FreedomsPhoenix and the sky is the limit.
We’ll start slow and make sure that we provide a firm foundation for future
long term expansion (as we always do).
The future is going to get very messy and at the very least
we’ll be able to provide an understanding of what is happening and pretty idea
as to how and why.
Answer,… What’s the Question?”
3) Maricopa County has been getting a lot of attention nationally
about how the County
Attorney is just as (fill
in the blank) as our favorite Sheriff Joe Arpaio. Putting the two together is
certain to create an environment that will provide libertarians with a perfect
example of what happens when too much power is consolidation in the hands of
too few and there is no mechanism to touch them. (Still Voting?)
I’ve been busy focusing on many things so the emails and
phone calls about abuses here in Maricopa County have built up to the point
that today I made a call to the Maricopa County Attorney’s office to find out
who would be the Media Contact for
questions I would have about policy and individual cases I would select for
research later. I didn’t plan on getting into long conversations or drawn out
debates. All I wanted was the name of the press representative for the County Attorney’s
I was announced and a county prosecutor / Special Assistant
to the County Attorney, Barnett Lotstein got on the
phone. He assumed that I wanted to talk about the case where the County Attorney’s
office made asses of themselves about the pre-teen that made national news when
he was prosecuted for porn that was/wasn’t on his computer. I never took the
time to memorize the details but FreedomsPhoenix’ Senior Editor Powell Gammill
made sure we got the highlights and the ABC 20/20 transcript of the interview
with Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas. From this short exposure I
categorized Thomas as one of “them” and moved on to other things of interest.
But the insistence from so many people that I trust to be knowledgeable about
many things have individually approached me on several occasions over the past
few months to ask that I look deeper into what is going to happen here in
(Valley of the Sun/Phoenix Metro Area/Central Arizona).
Sheriff Joe Arpaio is a dangerous man if he feels you are
hogging his spotlight or are threatening his position. But since his faults are
more self centered, his personal feedback loop from close associates and the occasional
media stunt keep this 70+ year old satisfied. Using his notoriety to shield
whatever other endeavors keep him occupied and satisfied has brought unwanted
attention from time to time but the Sheriff is famous for not allowing himself
to be accountable. In the past there was a contencious relationship between
then Maricopa County Attorney Rick Romley and the Sheriff. But that
relationship is no more. Sheriff Joe and I have history going back to 1992 with
many conversations and meetings between then and now. I just gave him a call during
lunchtime and wouldn’t be surprised if he returned my call to answer some
questions. Sheriff Joe knows my positions and opinions so our conversations are
more like diplomatic negotiations between two countries on opposite sides of
the Iron Curtain during the Cold War.
Andrew Thomas is the new county attorney and I have a few
first impressions that I need to set aside before I get deeper into examination
of what drives him. His actions represent what I witnessed during the 2006
campaign cycle. While running a statewide campaign for Secretary of State and
traveling all over the state with Barry Hess in his race for Az Governor, I
came in contact with the Republican candidate for Arizona Attorney General, Bill
Montgomery. He was a tank commander during Desert Storm and was of the opinion
that strict enforcement of all laws would bring order to society. What scared
me about him is that he really believed this and would spare no resource in
strictly enforcing all
laws without hesitation or sense of justice. Knowing
that a corrupt democratic incumbent would be preferable is another very good
reason to not vote at all.
Andrew Thomas likely has the same support structure as did
Bill (same types at least). I’m being very vague on purpose because I really
don’t know but intend on finding out. The only reason I share these thoughts
with you now is because it keeps me safer. Those that have known me for a long
time know that I share what I know when I know it so that I am not a
centralized threat (they have to take out all 4000 of you too). My lengthy
discussion with Barnett Lotstein of the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office
scared me. I am very frightened for the future stability of life here in Maricopa County. It was made very clear to me
over and over that ‘if a law is on the books and there is enough evidence to
get a conviction, then we have an obligation to prosecute to the fullest extent’
and that it is the legislature that makes the laws and the County Attorney’s
office job is to enforce them, all the time, in every case prosecutable. Over and
over and over this concept was stressed. I offered an open door by saying that
the best way to get rid of an unjust law is to strictly enforce it but this
only frustrated him. I’ve seen this sort of behavior before. And I’m pretty
sure I know what motivates it. THE DESIRE FOR HIGHER OFFICE. Justice isn’t the
goal,… political advancement is. And I’ll bet that there is a very strong core
of supporters that have this horse as part of their stable.
I encourage the readers of this article to keep the stories
coming. This type of blind enforcement of already stupid laws makes certain
that Andrew Thomas is his own worst enemy and he won’t need any of my help to
point that out.
(But then there is always that one case that gets me
For now I just have time for back ground information on
Thomas. Where he came from, who are his supporters, what are his future plans,
what motivates him to use his office the way he does, his comments on what this
all means to the Justice system here in Arizona etc.
I’m in no hurry on this but they know I’m learning and that
scares them,… and being scared makes them dangerous. So I need to now why they
are so scared.
Thanks for all of your help in the past,
