"...closing our eyes to illegal immigration cannot be good policy." ? I have rejected many, if not most laws on moral grounds for 60 years. Imagine my disgust when I discovered that most law is "null & void" on constitutional grounds but is upheld by the Supreme Court without penalty from public opinion. The public just goes along with whatever the government does, even when it violates the law and/or common decency, e.g., kidnapping, torture, and murder are paid for by taxation. So when I am asked to condemn a life-affirming activity because: "It's illegal", I find this ironic. As for the drain on public services (welfare) I condemn redistribution of wealth for the benefit of anyone.
