Among the things I find interesting in this story is the prices paid for the goods. Reportedly, the mafia had $331 wrapped up in each AK, and were selling them for $400ea. This is just ridiculously high. The Chinese (who will sell to ANYBODY), have millions of surplus Type 56s (the chinese term for the AKM) that they sell for $150 to $200 each. And they ship anywhere in the world. Just ask the BATF. They confiscated a cargo container full of 2000 chinese Type 56s at the Port of Los Angeles back in 1996 that were destined for L.A. street gangs. The container had been bought for a song at only $300,000!!
