Stamford mayor's son pleads guilty; receives no jail time

• Stamford Advocate

Benjamin Malloy, the 21-year-old son of Stamford Mayor Dannel Malloy, pleaded guilty to first-degree attempted robbery and an older narcotics charge.

In exchange, Malloy, of 277 Ocean Drive E., is to receive a sentence that involves no jail time; a 10-year suspended prison sentence and five years of probation.

"We didn't give him a slap on the wrist," said State's Attorney David Cohen. "He pleaded guilty to two felonies."
