Phoenix area temperatures break records Tuesday at 96 - 98 degrees

[55 degrees this morning = 40 degree temp. difference.] It doesn't quite feel like November yet, not during the day anyway.

Record-breaking temperatures hit the Valley Tuesday, with temperatures at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport hitting 96 degrees, topping the previous record high of 94 degrees set in 1931.

In the East Valley, Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport notched up to a high of 97 degrees at 3 p.m.

Mike Bruce, a meteorologist at the Phoenix office of the National Weather Service, said highs in east Mesa hit 98 degrees.
