DA: Ayers' case a 'tragedy all the way around'

• Jacobs Media

It is a tragedy all the way around,"

I believe that the prosecutor in this case is not telling the truth.  He claims that the officers cannot be charged by the state because the grand jury no-billed them because of double jeopardy.  Double jeopardy attaches when someone has been tried in court, not when a grand jury no-bills them. I can't find anything in the Georgia statutes which applies double jeopardy to a grand jury proceeding.

Witness what happened in Texas when the prosecutor went to 3 different grand juries before indicting Tom Delay.

I think that the prosecutor in this case did not want to indict those cops and that is why they weren't indicted.  Now, he's trying to throw the case in laps of the Feds.  In my opinion, he's a coward.
