Tried to attend today. Failure. The traffic jam was horrible - 8 miles from the north and at least 5 miles from the south. The cops made sure that traffic crawled at less than 5mph. Wonder if Harry Reid called his policemen buddies to make sure it was a mess? Bottom line is that if I would have parked in town, I would have had at least a 45 minute walk each way and I would have missed Palin anyway, so I sat in the traffic for an hour and a half, then drove on by (I was driving south to north anyway, so it wasn't a total loss). Saw exactly 5 Love Not War signs, only two were legible, one between Kingman and Laughlin, the other one on the hill just south of McDonald's in Searchlight. And I was looking. There were a couple of major "Tea Party Express is a GOP Fraud" signs along the road, but that was all the dissent I noticed. There were lots of homemade signs, some very inventive, and a decidedly older crowd. I would guess that several thousand were like me - because of the traffic they never made it to the event. From the road I could see a dozen satellite uplink trucks and all sorts of mayhem at the site. I have no idea how many attended, but I did see several thousand cars!
Well, the MSM is paying attention to the event. We will see if they wonder what all those signs along the road saying "LOVE, not W.A.R." mean.
