Tibetan monks prayed over hundreds of bodies Friday at a makeshift
morgue next to their monastery after powerful earthquakes destroyed the
remote mountain town of Jiegu in western China and left at least 1,144
people dead.
The Xinhua News Agency announced the revised death toll Friday, after reporting 791 deaths earlier in the day.
The state media report said another 417 people remain missing.
