Psychiatric manual: Nonconformity and freethinking is now classified as a mental illness

Is nonconformity and freethinking a mental illness? According to the newest addition of the DSM-IV (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders), it certainly is. The manual identifies a new mental illness called “oppositional defiant disorder” or ODD. Defined as an “ongoing pattern of disobedient, hostile and defiant behavior,” symptoms include questioning authority, negativity, defiance, argumentativeness, and being easily annoyed.

From, the website of the American Psychiatric Association:

"Since the next major revision of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-V) will not appear until 2012 (i.e., at least 18 years after DSM-IV was published in 1994), a text revision of DSM-IV, called DSM-IV-TR, was published in July 2000...In addition, some of the diagnostic codes were changed to reflect updates to the International Classification of Diseases, Ninth Edition, Clinical Modification (ICD-9-CM) coding system adopted by the U.S. government".

The DSM-IV  code is 313.81.  Interesting that the "Disorder Information Sheet" specifies:

" If older than age 18, the patient does not meet criteria for Antisocial Personality Disorder."  Check out that link:

Anti-Social Personality Disorder - Aggressive anti-social behavior with continual violation of the rights of others.
Authoritarian Personality Disorder - A particular personality type drawn to the ideology of fascism.  Developed in early childhood experiences.   Characteristics include: rigid conformist respect for superiors/hatred for inferiors advocates.

Sound like anyone?

If you protest anything that the government is doing, you are mentally ill and the government will commit you to a mental hospital.  I know of one "tax protester" that was so committed in Springfield.
