Lunar eclipse/winter solstice (Dec. 2010 photos/video)

• the real news now
The extremely-rare lunar eclipse which coincided with 2010's winter solstice for the first time in over 400 years happened just a few hours ago. NASA claims the last time these astronomical events took place at the same time was on Dec. 21, 1638, and it probably won't happen again until at least 2094. The full moon was darkened by Earth's shadow as our planet passed between the moon and the sun.
