What caused no end of trouble to BP and the Deepwater Horizon platform in the Gulf of Mexico during the spring of 2010 may become a huge boon for the Scottish economy. Dubbed by some a wonder fuel, "fire ice" an abundant energy source that's more properly called methane hydrates has been discovered locked deep under the Scottish coastline. Some experts claim the energy buried in the frozen methane could be enough to supply all of Scotland's power needs for the next three centuries.
