World landmarks fade to black for Earth Hour

Hundreds of famous landmarks around the world from the Eiffel Tower to the Great Wall of China are plunged into darkness to mark the annual Earth Hour.
Earth Hour, held on the last Saturday of March every year, began as a Sydney-only event in 2007 designed to raise awareness of environmental concerns and global warming.

Across the world iconic sites turned their lights off for on hour on Saturday night, among them were the Acropolis in Athens, the Eiffel tower in Paris, China's Great Wall and The Empire State building in New York.

In London, Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, Tower Bridge and St Paul's Cathedral all faded to black for the event.
