Cuccinelli: "Dark Day for American Liberty"

Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli's reaction to the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling upholding the key provision of President Barack Obama's health care overhaul:  "This is a dark day for the American people, the Constitution, and the rule of law. This is a dark day for American liberty."

The ruling was issued Thursday morning, and Cuccinelli will hold a full news conference at 12:15 p.m.

Cuccinelli attended the Supreme Court's arguments in the case in March. He believes the law's requirement that individuals buy health insurance or pay a penalty is unconstitutional. That's a view shared by the 26 states involved in the Supreme Court case.

Cuccinelli filed a separate lawsuit against the law, but a federal judge's ruling in his favor was overturned when a federal appeals court ruled that Virginia lacked legal standing to challenge the law.

It's because Americans have the Constitutionally guaranteed free right to contract. They used this right to contract with the Federal Government when they signed up for Social Security. The States were not privy to the agreement. States can't interfere.

The questions to ask are:

Do you like your SS agreement?

Can you get out of your SS agreement?

Do you want to get out of your SS agreement? Remember, if you do get out, you can never use your SS# again.

So, you see? It's totally VOLUNTARY compliance by the people. They don't really want any way out. Life would just be too hard for them without Social Security. Better to just grin and bear it.
