Twenty-three-year-old Rebecca Carey of Decatur, Georgia, a young woman who reportedly devoted countless hours to rescuing and finding homes for abandoned and abused dogs, was found dead in her home on Friday, a victim of an attack by dogs she was currently fostering. According to Huffington Post, relatives went to Carey’s residence when she did not report to her job at Decatur’s Loving Hands Animal Shelter.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that Carey was found with multiple bite wounds to the neck and other body areas. In the house with her were five dogs the woman was fostering, 2 pit bulls, a boxer mix and 2 Spanish herding and hunting dogs called Presas. All of the dogs have been euthanized.
