The owner of the huge eyeball that washed ashore in Pompano Beach this week remained a mystery Friday, although scientists are optimistic they will be able to identify it.
The softball-sized blue eyeball was found in the sand Wednesday morning by a man on his daily walk along the beach. The discovery generated enormous public interest, with newsmedia from Europe, Canada and across the United States calling the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission for information.
