On a more basic level, since we all know about the many ways freedoms have changed in the last 10 years, shouldn't we be looking into what might be happening at the time of death? For example.
If you cut you finger while preparing a meal, or while working on your car, it can hurt. Car accidents often hurt - bumps, bruises, broken bones, lacerations, etc.. Those people who douse themselves with gasoline and set themselves on fire must really be in pain... at least for a little while.
So, what about when you die? Perhaps having all your body parts cut off shoves you into excruciating pain forever! We gotta find out whats going one with this death thing. I mean, how do we really know that those few people who have come back from death, who have seen the tunnel with the light at the end, who have felt the overwhelming goodness... how do we know that they really died? Maybe they didn't die, and instead, their brain played tricks on them near death, and the tunnel and the light and the euphoria are all a lie of the brain to make us feel better.
