One dead, 13 hurt in Philadelphia building collapse

A four-story building being demolished collapsed onto a Salvation Army store in downtown Philadelphia on Wednesday, killing one person and injuring at least 13 others.

Mayor Michael Nutter said a 35-year-old woman died, but she was not immediately identified, the Associated Press reported.

Officials don't know how many people were in the thrift store, at Market and 22nd streets, or walking past when the brick-and-wood structure toppled at 10:43 a.m., Philadelphia Fire Battalion Chief Michael Richey told USA TODAY.
