Your cell phone could be a sonar device, researchers say

Bats and dolphins use echolocation to find their way in the dark, bouncing sounds off of distant objects and measuring the distances in their brains to determine exactly where the objects are located. With new mathematical measurements, scientists have determined a way to recreate that ability using cell phones.

While bats have had millions of years to fine tune the system that allows them to filter the sounds they hear and echolocate properly, scientists have struggled to do the same with cell phone technology, Tech News Daily explains.
