A two day campaign of airstrikes by Egyptian military helicopters continued on Sunday in the norther Sinai Peninsula. The army claimed nine “radical Islamists” were murdered on the first day of the strikes. The official numbers released on Saturday were 10 killed, 20 wounded and 15 arrested. In the two years since the removal of Hosni Mubarak the Egyptian military has stepped in an attempt to maintain order in the embattled nation. Nothern Sinai has become a breeding ground for Al-Qaeda linked fighters who have clashed with the military on a daily basis the past few weeks.
