HBO breaks free from cable bundles, cozies up with cable internet

It's no secret that fans of HBO's original shows have been a little disgruntled as of late. Their gripe is that they have little to no interest in much of what cable TV has to offer, but that they are forced to pay for premium packages simply to enjoy the two or three programs a year that they do want to tune in for. Earlier this year, the conflict reached a fever pitch when the season premiere of Game of Thrones became the most pirated TV program of all time.

Last month, with the bottom line in jeopardy, Time Warner's CEO Jeff Bewkes did the unthinkable by mentioning publicly that he was considering unbundling HBO.

O goody. Let the people have the indoctrination that they so desire. Let them have HBO.
