Afghanistan Declines Immediate Security Deal with the United States

Early Friday Afghan President Hamid Karzai declined to sign a Bilateral Security Agreement (BSA) with the United States before the end of year. The deal involves whether the United States will leave troops in the country after 2014. Tribal leaders in Afghanistan are currently holding a Loya Jirga tribal meeting to decide what role, if any, they would like the United States to play in Afghanistan’s future.
